Our Forever Home

Anxious – a very appropriate word to describe how I’ve been feeling lately. There are so many things to be done but none of which I can start on until we take possession of our new home.

That’s right! We bought a house. It is a 1970’s home with 40 acres of land, a bunch of old barns and sheds, and lots of beautiful trees. We are so excited that we have found the property of our dreams! We are now anxiously waiting to move in and make it our forever home!

We have so many ideas for upgrading and renovating our new home, it is hard to sit here and wait until possession. A few projects we hope to accomplish over winter are the kitchen, the main floor carpets, and painting. Lots and lots of paint! In the spring we look forward to starting a veggie garden,ย pulling out some overgrown shrubs and bushes in the front yard to make room for flower gardens, and perhaps starting on the exterior appearance of the house. We also plan to seed about 30 acres for hay next year and possibly get an animal or two! The kids are constantly asking when we can get a puppy and kittens and some cows!

The kids and I have driven by a few times a week just to seeย the propertyย again and dream about the future. I have no pictures of the house to share with you, but the current homeowners allowed to walk through the yard and the barns – so beautiful!

This is the largest barn on the property and we are thinking about painting it!

There are a total of four old barns/sheds. We are very excited to go sifting through the items the current homeowners choose to leave behind!

I hope to take before, during, and after photos of our renovations you can expect a few of those in the future! We can hardly wait to make this our forever home!

This is Home…for now

As many of you know, we recently packed up our home in Central Alberta and made a big move! With our camper fully packed and our Expedition putting along, we set out to a new province, a new home. Eighteen hours in a vehicle with three bored and uncomfortable kids was quite the adventure! I was VERY happy my Hubby agreed to pull over at a rest stop for the night. With only 14 hours of actual driving time, we finally made it to our destination.

For nine weeks we will be living in our camper. So far, we have made it through one week. We are currently parked right next door to family and friends! Matteah has spent more time outside during this one week than she did in an entire summer when we lived in town! Her cousins keep her busy with exploring and playing on the tire swing ๐Ÿ™‚

Ethan on the other hand, has been a little bit more challenging. I’m thinking that is probably because I decided to start potty training! Life in a camper doesn’t leave you with a whole lot to do, so I figured what better to do with my time than get him potty trained?! Ethan is also enjoying being outside a playing with cousins; he is getting a good lesson in sharing!

Our little Logan is almost 3 months old and doing great! The most difficult adjustment for him was learning to take naps without a baby swing! We have discovered that he loves his soft cow blanket tucked up against his cheeks ๐Ÿ™‚

I myself have always loved camping, but I’m a little nervous that after these two months, I will dread it! I have been busy searching Pinterest for ideas in our new home, washing load after load of laundry from the kids being outside, and trying to find the easiest, healthiest meals to cook in a camper with little storage space. I also ventured out yesterday for my first trip to Winnipeg! I was quite proud of myself for finding Superstore without a GPS ๐Ÿ™‚

Hubby and I are also very thankful to have family and friends close to visit in the evenings and answer our many questions about life in Manitoba!! We look forward to starting life on an acreage and doing renovations, but for now, this is home.

First Camping Trip of 2014!

I LOVE CAMPING! My husband?! Not so much… Well, I should actually say that he used to not like camping very much. But I think I may have changed his mind after this weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

We went on our first camping trip in almost two years this past weekend. And let me say….WE HAD A BLAST!! Yes, even my husband! The kids were little angels the whole weekend and the campground where we stayed was amazing! There were so many extra fun activities to do, that in the five days we were there, we didn’t even get around to them all! It also helped that we went camping with some really good friends. Hope they had as much fun as we did!!

We stayed at Old MacDonald’s Resort on Buffalo Lake, Alberta. I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone and EVERYONE!

Here are some photos of the trip…

The kids (and Dads) had a ton of fun on the go carts! I even got a turn :)

The kiddos had so much fun at the playground we had a hard time pulling them away! (Some of the adults had a little too much fun as well, but I won’t share those photos :P)

Fun at the playground :)

OK, I will admit, I think us Mommas had more fun at the lake than the kids! Unfortunately I don’t have any photos of us floating around in blow-up-boats, being buried in sand, or making rivers…but I do have a picture of the castle and mote! Can’t go to a lake without making a sandcastle!! Ethan seemed to enjoy eating the muddy sand which was an added bonus! (NOT)

At the Beach

At the Beach

Best part about the merry-go-round, it was only 25 cents! And the fun thing was, if you get your shoe into the milk crate while the ride is in motion, you get your quarter back! Which we managed to do! YAY!!

The Merry-Go-Round!!

Oh and I nearly forgot! Guess who celebrated a birthday while we were camping?!?!?!
THIS LITTLE GUY!! (I know its a terrible picture but its the only one I took of him on his actual birthday! I think a photo shoot is in the near future ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

And just a couple more of my favourite photos from the trip ๐Ÿ™‚ There were also many walks, campfires, and ice cream cones to be enjoyed.

Sleeping Babies :)

There were so many good photos to share I had to make a few collages! Hope you enjoyed them ๐Ÿ™‚
