Homemade Hamburger Patties

Barbecue season is just around the corner and we are so excited! We are so looking forward to working outside again, finishing off the day with a barbequed meal and eating on the porch.

We’ve been dreaming about our favourite BBQ meals and tonight we just couldn’t hold back. So I decided to make some homemade hamburgers to get our grilling season started.

I grew up having burgers for supper nearly every Saturday. When we were first married, I continued on with this tradition. But we soon got tired of the same old hamburger patty week after week. So we started trying some different brands and flavours of hamburger patties but were never very satisfied. The ones we liked were too expensive to justify, and the cheaper ones were just no good. So sadly the tradition faded.

Last summer we got the craving for burgers again. So instead of shopping around only to be disappointed again, I decided to try homemade. I looked at a few different recipes online and after trying a few, I came up with this combination of spices and we LOVE it! We now look forward to having burgers again throughout the barbeque season. 🙂

Homemade Hamburger Patties

2 lbs ground beef

1 Tbsp paprika

1Tbsp salt

1/2 Tbsp steak spice (I use Club House Montreal Steak Spice)

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp chili powder

Combine all ingredients in a bowl, mixing well. Divide and shape into 8 patties. I use a 1/2 cup and scoop it into my hamburger press. Barbeque until cooked through. About 15 minutes on medium. Serve on a warm bun or in a lettuce wrap. Top with your favourite condiments and burger toppings. Enjoy!

How about you? What are your favourite barbecued foods? Leave a comment and let me know if you try this recipe. 🙂
